5 Major Constituents of HVAC

The components of a commercial HVAC system are numerous. Each of these components works together to ensure the system’s overall performance. If one of the components fails, the entire system will fail soon after. However, only one section receives the most attention. That component is, as you might expect, the compressor. The following are some of the most important components of a commercial HVAC system which Heating and cooling Grosse Ile Michigan provides:

1. Air conditioning system

A business HVAC system’s air conditioner is remarkably comparable to a domestic unit. Its goal is to remove heat and dehumidify the air. It’s vital to note that the air conditioner doesn’t chill the building by itself; instead, it collaborates with a variety of different subsystems to maintain a comfortable temperature.

2. Expansion Valve for Thermal Expansion

The condenser’s expansion valve is critical to its operation. It relieves the pressure on the liquid refrigerant, allowing it to expand and transform from a liquid to a vapour. The expansion valve allows for accurate refrigerant flow control into the evaporator coil. Because high-pressure liquid refrigerant is hot as it enters the expansion valve, a precision valve improves overall system efficiency. The thermal expansion valve can be put in front of the evaporator coil or brazed into the copper lines that connect up to the air handler, and it can be on the inside or outside of the air handler.

3. Air Handler

The air handler is the component in charge of air circulation in the system. It is usually immediately connected to the ductwork in most constructions. It circulates cooled or heated air around the structure before returning it to the system. It has a blower, heating and cooling elements, as well as a number of other components. The evaporator coil is the part of the air handler that is most likely to require repair or replacement. The chilled refrigerant received from the compressor is stored in the evaporator coil. Heat is removed from the air in the treated region as air from the blower fan passes over the coil.

4. Terminal Units

An air filter, coil, and blower make up terminal units. The size of the items varies greatly. In contrast to the largest make-up air units, the mid-sized rooftop units (RTUs) are the most prevalent terminal units in a business HVAC system (MTUs). They can be used to regulate the temperature of a single space.

5. Refrigerator

Air-cooled and water-cooled chillers are available. Their job is to remove heat from the liquid that flows through the pipes of the building. The condenser coils in an air-cooled chiller are cooled by fan-driven air, and the equipment is normally located outside. Water-cooled chillers are more likely to be used in systems that require intensive cooling for extended periods of time. Water is used to keep these cool, and it is constantly recirculated. Warm water is transported away as it circulates, and cool water from an outside cooling tower enters.
